Mounting Height
To optimize the performance of both the boat and motor, it is essential to minimize water resistance.The height at which the outboard motor is mounted plays a critical role in this. Mounting the motor too high can cause cavitation, reducing thrust, and if the propeller tips break the water's surface, it can lead to an uncontrollable increase in engine speed, potentially causing overheating.Conversely, mounting the motor too low increases water resistance, diminishing engine efficiency. The optimal height is where the anti-cavitation plate sits approximately 25mm below the bottom of the boat.
