2 Stroke Outboards Starting Procedure

 

 

Engine tilted fully down (this makes it easier for fuel to get to the carburetors).

Squeeze primer bulb till firm.

Advance throttle in neutral to 2/3s.

Turn key on, push to choke (or pull out choke) and crank at the same time.

Release choke, return the throttle to neutral after ignition.

 

Steps to Mount the 2 Stroke Outboard

Place outboard on the center line of transom

The 2 stroke outboard engine should be mounted on the center line (keel line) of your boat so that the boat is well-balanced. Otherwise, the boat could be hard to steer.

Tighten the transom clamp bolts firmly

Place the 2 stroke outboard on the transom so that it is positioned as close to the center as possible. Then tighten the clamp screws evenly and securely.

Use two screws to fix the outboard to the boat

If you want to mount the 2 stroke outboard more firmly, the method of using screws to install an outboard on the boat transom is recommended. Ensure the outboard motor is firmly fixed as loosened clamp screws may cause the outboard engine to fall into the water or get damaged.

Check the screws or clamps every time before use since they may be loosened due to mechanical vibrations.

Essential Maintenance Tips for 2 Stroke Outboard

Periodically check the fuel line for leaks or corrosion.

Check the propeller and skeg for any damage (every 20 hours).

Replace fuel filters and water separators (every 100 hours).

Check the fuel tanks for damage and corrosion.

Inspect spark plugs and grease moving parts (propeller shaft, tilt system, etc).

Check regularly for water in the fuel.

1. Please carefully read the manual and strictly follow the precautions to have a better experience.


2. Please be careful not to start onshore or use in excessively turbulent water flow.


3. Please note that the propulsion speed is related to the size and weight of the boat.


4. This product can be used in saltwater and freshwater, but it must be immediately cleaned with clean freshwater after use in saltwater.


5. We suggest that the length of the boat should not exceed 8 feet, so a boat that is too large can lead to a decrease in its flexibility, handling, and safety.

6. Please note this product can only be directly fixed to a hard-material boat, such as iron, wood, and hard plastic. You need to add a fixed frame (not included) to fix this product on a soft material boat.


7. Please note to stop the engine and keep it cool before refueling. Gasoline is flammable, so please avoid smoking or bringing any flames or sparks near. If the engine has not been used for more than half a month, please drain the fuel in advance.


8. This product requires a mixture of #92 unleaded gasoline and two-stroke engine oil. The volume ratio of gasoline to two-stroke engine oil during the running-in period is 25:1. After the break-in period, this ratio becomes 30:1, and if FD-grade engine oil is used, the ratio is 50:1.


9. Please allow the slight color difference caused by the shooting light and 1-3cm error due to manual measurement.

Q: Should I run my 2-stroke outboard out of fuel?

A: Let gas sit in the carburetor is a guarantee that you will have issues. For that reason it is best to run your outboard until it runs out of fuel, or to drain your carburetor bowl if you don't plan to use your outboard for even a couple of days.

Q: How to keep a 2-stroke outboard running good?

A: The right choice of fuel and oil. Though most carbie two strokes will run well on standard unleaded (91 RON) petrol, I recommend using premium (95) but only in conjunction with synthetic blend oil.

Q: How often should you service a 2-stroke outboard?

A: You should service your outboard yearly before the start of every summer season of boating. From new, the outboard would require a service after 20 hours of use, then every 100 hours or an annual service thereafter.

Q: How long should you let a 2-stroke outboard warm up?

A: Doing so will allow the oil enough time to properly lubricate and protect internal engine components before putting a load on the engine. This shouldn't take more than 1-2 minutes, unless you're starting in extremely low temperatures (late fall or winter).

Q: What is the life expectancy of a 2-stroke outboard motor?

A: The 2 stroke outboards had an expected lifetime of 1500 hours, while the modern 4 strokes are expected to have 4000 hrs. An electric motor can last for tens of thousands of hours* (with battery replacement), with a notable increase over the 4,000 hour average of high-end petrol outboards.
