ABOUT OUTBOARDS

4-Stroke Boat Motor: Pros & Cons

Pros:

Fuel Efficiency: 4-stroke outboards are up to 50% more fuel-efficient than 2-strokes of the same HP.

Environmentally Friendly: They produce up to 90% fewer emissions, making them a greener choice.

Durability: The lubrication system improves the longevity and reliability of internal parts, ensuring smoother operation.

Torque & Smoothness: 4-strokes generate more torque, ideal for heavier boats, and run smoothly at idle or low RPM without misfiring.

Quieter Operation: They are quieter than 2-strokes, with a lower pitch, reducing noise pollution.

Cons:

Heavier & Bulkier: Due to the complex design, 4-stroke motors are heavier, reducing acceleration and top-end speed compared to 2-strokes.

Maintenance: Requires regular oil and filter changes and more maintenance due to its complex lubrication system.

Not Ideal for Small Boats: The added weight may make it less suitable for smaller boats that benefit from a lightweight 2-stroke engine.

Company Introduction

Guided by a commitment to excellence, we have launched a diverse range of outboard motors: 2-stroke models (3HP, 5HP, 9.8HP, 15HP, 20HP, 30HP, and 40HP), 4-stroke models (6HP, 20HP, 60HP EFI), and an electric outboard (40HP). Our ongoing focus on technological innovation has yielded impressive results. As of July 24, 2023, we have secured 25 patents, covering key areas such as outboard motor oil supply systems, yaw testing devices, and underwater gear nut fastening systems. In response to concerns over virtual horsepower labeling in the market, we have consistently adhered to the principle of providing genuine horsepower, earning increasing recognition and praise from consumers.

Mounting the outboard motor

The outboard motor should be installed in a way that ensures the boat is properly balanced. If not, steering could become difficult. For boats with a single engine, position the outboard motor along the boat's centerline (keel line).

Mounting Height

To achieve optimal performance, it's important to minimize water resistance (drag) between the boat and the outboard motor. The mounting height plays a crucial role in this. If the motor is mounted too high, cavitation may occur, reducing propulsion. If the propeller tips break the water surface, the engine speed may increase excessively, leading to overheating. On the other hand, if the motor is mounted too low, water resistance will increase, lowering engine efficiency. Ideally, the anti-cavitation plate should be positioned between the boat's bottom and approximately 25 mm (1 inch) below it.
