About Outboards

Reliable outboard motors are essential for any boating enthusiast. They provide consistent performance and durability, ensuring smooth operation on the water. Whether for fishing or recreational use, choosing a dependable motor can significantly enhance your boating experience and safety.

Precautions for use

a. Before starting, connect the fuel tank and fuel line. Ensure the direction of the fuel line is correct during connection; if it doesn't connect, the direction may be wrong. After connecting, loosen the vent screw on the fuel tank and manually pump the fuel line until it cannot be pressed further. Check for any fuel leaks at the connections.

b. Preparing to start. Ensure the gear lever is in the neutral position before inserting the emergency kill switch (note: the emergency kill switch for Dongfa outboard motors cannot be exchanged with other brands). Rotate the throttle handle to the middle position, pull out the choke handle, and then pull the starter handle to start the engine.

c. Engine preheating. After starting the engine, push the choke handle in and gradually turn the throttle handle to the idle position. Allow the engine to warm up for one to two minutes before use to ensure smooth operation. Also, check that the cooling water is flowing normally.

d. Gear Shifting Precautions: When changing gears, always ensure the engine is at low RPM (idle) before operating the gear lever. This helps protect the gears from damage.

e. During Operation: The operator must wrap the emergency kill switch cord around their wrist. In case someone falls overboard or in an emergency, this allows for timely engine shutdown to prevent the person from being caught by the propeller.

f. Shallow Water Operation: To operate in shallow water, lower the locking lever on the starboard side of the engine to the release position. Tilt the engine up to about 45° and lower it, raising the rear of the engine. When in shallow water, avoid high speeds in both forward and reverse; the throttle should not exceed half. Excessive speed can be dangerous. Shallow water operation is meant for short-term use near the shore. To disengage shallow water mode, turn the locking lever back to the locked position, tilt the engine up, and lower it after hearing a "clunk."

FAQ

Q: What do your machine have some optimization?

A: Our machine's bore has been expanded to a larger displacement, making our engine more powerful. We have also adjusted the carburetor, resulting in a more stable outboard motor.

Q: What are the advantages of your product?

A: Our machine is more powerful, offering excellent reliability with proven 2-stroke and 4-stroke technology. Most importantly, our machine is now more stable after optimization, delivering stable performance and an exquisite appearance. Our chief engineer has started outboard motor research and development since 1999.

Q: Are you the new brand? We've never heard of this brand?

A: Calon Gloria has been established for nine years, and our chief engineer has over 20 years of development experience in the field of outboard engine research. We have passed the ISO9001 international quality certification. Currently, we offer a wide range of models from 3 to 40 horsepower and always focus on optimizing product performance stability while maintaining strict standards for our suppliers.

Q: How about your quality?

A: Our company has strong technical expertise and high-quality products, and we have passed the ISO9001 international quality system certification. Our outboards are powerful and offer stable performance. We always pay attention to optimizing product performance stability and maintain strict standards for our suppliers.

Q: What's the difference of the two stroke and four stroke?

A: Fuel Economy: A four-stroke outboard with the same horsepower can save more than 30% in fuel compared to a two-stroke outboard and is also more fuel-efficient. From an environmental perspective, two-stroke engines have a simpler operating mode, which results in incomplete fuel combustion and higher exhaust emissions. This makes two-stroke engines less favorable for environmental protection.
Gasoline and Engine Oil: Two-stroke outboards require a mixture of gasoline and engine oil, meaning that both types of oil are premixed in the fuel tank. Since two-stroke engines lack a separate oil fill port, lubrication occurs during combustion. In contrast, four-stroke outboards function more like car engines. They have an oil fill port where the appropriate amount of engine oil must be added to lubricate the crankshaft and gears. Regular oil changes are necessary to maintain high performance.

Q: How can I tell what shaft length my outboard needs to be?

A: Measure from the top of your transom to the bottom of your keel. If this measurement is between 15" and 17", you'll need a Calon outboard with a 'short' shaft. If it is between 20" and 22", you'll need our 'long' shaft outboard. Calon outboard shafts are measured from the bottom of the engine mounting bracket to the cavitation plate on the lower unit. Generally, most boats require either a short or long shaft, although some boats may need a 25" (ultra-long) shaft outboard. We recommend consulting with your local dealer to determine the correct shaft length for your specific boat. We now supply two types of transom heights for our outboards.

Q: Can you supply spare parts?

A: Yes, as we are the original manufacturer.
