Outboard Motor Startup Checklist

 

  1. Open air valves on both fuel tanks.
  2. Connect the external fuel line.
  3. Set the fuel switch to "on."
  4. Secure the emergency switch lanyard.
  5. Shake the fuel tank to mix fuel, away from fire.
  6. Ensure the gear is in neutral.
  7. Connect the fuel line, pump the bulb 3-5 times.
  8. Slightly open the choke, apply throttle to start, then close the choke and let the engine idle for 3-5 minutes.
  9. Lift the motor out of the water when not in use.
  10. For storage, run the fuel out completely.
